Active Living in South Edinburgh

Having an active lifestyle doesn't mean sweating it out in the gym five days a week. Why not take a walk with the South City Strollers or get on your bike with some cycle training sessions? People in South Edinburgh have the opportunity to participate in a variety of free activities to suit all ages and abilities. For people who would like to further their career prospects in active living, there are also free training opportunities and volunteer roles available.

Walk more feel the difference!

The first step . . . many of us know we should be more active to benefit our health and
well-being. This does not have to be vigorous physical activity. Just 30 minutes a day of moderate activity, such as brisk walking, is all it takes to feel the difference!

Did you know that walking for just 30 minutes a day can:

  • Make you feel good
(feel fitter, more toned and generally feel better about yourself)
  • Give you more energy
  • Help you sleep better
  • Help you reduce stress
(ever noticed how difficult it is to walk and worry at the same time?)
  • Reduce your blood pressure
  • Help you manage your weight
